‘Switch to Upstream Circularity Roundtables: Pre-consumer Textile Waste in Bangladesh’ event consists of two roundtables.
The morning Roundtable Meeting: On 4 September, 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM BTS, ‘Switch to Upstream Circularity Roundtable’ event will focus on more dynamic discussions amongst representatives of all stakeholders and will further explore the real-time scenario and future solutions of transforming Bangladesh’s ready made garment and textile industry into a circular manufacturing hub.
This event is organized under the Switch to Circular Economy Value Chains project (SWITCH2CE), co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Finland. SWITCH2CE is led by UNIDO, in collaboration with Chatham House, Circle Economy, and European Investment Bank, and supports the switch to circularity in selected global value chains.
The Afternoon Roundtable Meeting: On 4 September 1.30 PM BST, the BESTSELLER Switch to Upstream Circularity project will host a two-hour, invite-only, working session at the BGMEA head office in Uttara, Dhaka.
The working session is intended specifically for actors implementing textile circularity projects in Bangladesh. As part of the agenda, a representative of each participating project is requested to present their main objectives, work packages and intended deliverables through 10-minute presentations, which will be followed by a group discussion.
Although this session is just a first step, the intent is to seek to work together (more) effectively, to share knowledge, resources and insights, to start establishing a common vision and voice for circular textiles in Bangladesh and ultimately accelerate all efforts that will support in anchoring Bangladesh’s RMG industry as a Circular Manufacturing Hub.
