About the programmes

Through its role as an industry convener and communicator, GFA pinpointed the need to facilitate collective action ‘impact programmes’ to address (systemic) challenges for achieving a net-positive industry, that puts back more into society, the environment, and the global economy than it takes out.

In 2020, GFA and several regional partners launched the Circular Fashion Partnership in Bangladesh, a cross-sectoral project to spur local action in textile manufacturing countries to accelerate and scale recycling of post-industrial textile waste – an important step in a journey towards (upstream) circularity. The project demonstrated a business case for doing so and since 2022, GFA is working with partners to address barriers in Bangladesh as well as expand the programme to other key manufacturing countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Turkey and Vietnam. At COP28 in 2023, GFA launched a collective financing initiative for the fashion industry to fund renewable energy infrastructure in manufacturing regions, starting with a wind park in Bangladesh.

GFA plans to further expand these initiatives and to facilitate more impact-oriented programmes where it can use its convening & communicating potential to accelerate sustainable transformation. Programmes will be developed within the Fashion CEO Agenda framework, focused on: Better Wage Systems, Respectful & Secure Work Environments, Circular Systems, Efficient Use of Resources and Smart Material Choices.

Main responsibilities include

  • Further develop and coordinate collective action programmes on topics such as (but not limited to) investments in renewable energy infrastructure and establishing ecosystems for circularity in Asia
  • Manage and monitor partner-relationships, including preparing for and leading meetings
  • Engage stakeholders and represent GFA as a spokesperson
  • Manage, secure and monitor grants with accompanying project plans & budgets and organise financial administration
  • Support in (realisation of tools for) fundraising

  • Passion for, understanding of and network in the fashion industry + sustainability, circularity, inequalities and wages, and/or renewable energy
  • Demonstrated experience engaging stakeholders, chairing meetings, managing public/private communities
  • Experience working for international organisations, and managing the complexities of global projects with multiple cultures
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills to interact and engage with various stakeholders, while being diplomatic, energetic and convincing with great attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Background in consulting and/or experience with impact assessments is a plus
