The interplay of Due Diligence and Upstream Circular Fashion Systems
Global Fashion Agenda hosted a side session at the OECD Forum on Due Diligence in the Garment and Footwear Sector discussing the connection between establishing circular fashion systems in manufacturing countries and mandatory Human Rights & Environmental Due Diligence.
After presenting its Global Circular Fashion Forum, a new initiative that aims to share learnings and knowledge across different regions on developing circular fashion systems, GFA will welcome its partners including GIZ, H&M Group, Policy Hub and BGMEA to reflect on the barriers and opportunities for solutions identified from the Circular Fashion Partnership in Bangladesh, and if those can be applied to regions such as Vietnam or Cambodia. Topics will include: involvement of informal waste traders, taxation and other incentives to encourage domestic recycling over export or incineration, the development of a code of ethics to engage waste handlers in circular value chains, and green energy access.
